Quote | “From ancient times, as far back as the human mind can go, we see Colchis as a literate and developed country. The miracles, which Medea had worked on Argonauts, attest to the fact that science was very advanced there, so that other peoples and even Greeks, who were held in high esteem as an educated nation, could not make the head or tail of that science and labeled these doings of Medea witchcraft and sorcery. Besides, the great Homer treats Greek Gods to Colchis’ wines, as to the wines befitting Gods, so famous were the goods produced in Megrelia then. Ancient historians tell us that a map was first made in Colchis” (pg. 612) |
