Comment | In S. Khaukhchishvili’s opinion, “Aphrodis” implies Alexander of Aphrodisias, whom Petritsi usually mentions together with Aristotle” (S. Kaukhchishvili, The History and Eulogy of Monarchs” and Ioane Petritsi, Moambe, III, N 1, 1942, pg. 92). T. Khaukhchishvili: “… I think, it is not a Greek philosopher who is mentioned here, but some famous hero, and if “Phrodis” still indicates a philosopher, then we may surmise that this place comes from Ioane Petritsi. (T. Khaukhchishvili, Antique World in the Historiography of Rustaveli Epoch. Historians of Tamar, Macne, the series of history, archeology, ethnography and history of art, Tbilisi, 1974, p. 110). K. Kekelidze translates this part into Russian so, that he mentions Fridon instead of Aphrodis , the personage from Ferdowsi’s “Shahnameh” (Картлис Цховреба, История Грузии, главый редактор Роин Метревели, Тбилиси, 2008, 247). |
