Comment | In P. Ingorokhva’s opinion, the author of “The History and Eulogy of Monarchs” could have taken the plots about Pelops and Hippodamia and Pluto and Persephone from the “Hellenian Tales” by Ephem Mtsire” (P. Ingorokhva, Literary Legacy of Rustaveli Epoc, Rustaveli Compilation, Tbilisi, 1938, p. 48-49). In T. Abuladze’s opinion, he (the author) did not even deem it necessary to footnote some explanations in the given cases, which points to the fact that these personages were not alien to the Georgian reader of the time (I. Abuladze, Tales by Helenians, Enimci’s Chronicles X, Tbilisi, 1941, pg. 9). |
